Embedded Talent Development
We have been working with Smiths Medical for the past 2 years on a leadership and talent development programme. This aims to provide a journey of discovery and a springboard for development for future leaders of the business and to equip managers with the skills and tools to manage talent and engage them in managing talent. It comprises an embedded learning process for talent and their managers, including:
- a 3-day “discovering your potential” simulation event with in-depth individual feedback
- development workshops for line managers on objective assessment, identifying and managing talent and developing potential
Successful outcomes for the business to date have included:
- Increased clarity on what talent looks like
- Creation of a more accurate and credible talent pool
- Enhanced skills in managers of identifying and developing talent
- Strategic development planning based on trends in “audit” data
- Enhanced movement of talent around the business
The programme has been so successful that it has now been introduced into other divisions in the business. A typical quote from a recent participant is:
